Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is used to break up scar tissue with firm pressure and break down muscle adhesions. The “knots” that we feel in our muscles are muscle adhesions. These knots can inhibit our circulation and cause pain and inflammation. The massage professional may use their elbow or specially designed massage tools in certain areas to apply pressure. However, sometimes the initial reaction to a Deep Tissue Massage can be anything but pleasant. The process of healing sometimes includes a healing crisis, also known as a detox reaction, or the cleansing reaction. During a healing crisis, you can feel even worse than before you started the detox. The good news is that this reaction is likely a sign that you’re getting better by way of a deep and thorough cleansing. On your part, let the Massage Therapist know when the pressure gets too much for you.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage/ Relaxation Massage use a system of long gliding strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, generally in the direction of blood flow towards the heart.
It’s a pain free therapy and an effective way to de-stress and relax the mind and body.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage where smooth, heated stones are used by therapist by placing them or rubbing them on the body. Hot Stone Massages help in releasing toxins, relieving pain and improving circulation. Some massage therapists use the energy lines or meridians of the body to place hot stones for energy work. By doing so, movement of energy know as Qi is stimulated and in this way the effects of stress are eliminated and healing is facilitated. Hot Stone Massage is very popular. It is very important for the therapist to ensure that the temperature of the stone suits the person having the massage. It is also important for the person to inform the therapist if the stones are so hot.
Myofascial Cupping Massage
Myofascial Cupping Massage involves placed the silicon cups on the skin to create suction for 5-15 minutes, or gently moved across the skin which stimulates the circulation of blood, breaks up adhesions, and creates a pathway for toxins to be drawn out of the body through the lymphatic system. In Chinese medicine it is believed that the marks more darker, the more stagnation of Qi and blood. Stagnation leads to pain and dysfunction or imbalance within tissues, so we want to clear that stuff out before it causes problems. Caution for cup marks may take a few days to a week to fade completely. Caution in keeping area covered from extreme changes in temperature( hot sauna or cold AC ) directly after a treatment. In Chinese medicine cupping opens your pores, making you susceptible to catching a cold. Not used if you have thin or damaged skin, or if you are taking blood thinners.
Scraping Massage/ Gua Sha
Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called Qi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The lymphatic system is one of the most vital systems in the body and is essential for good health – it’s a major part of the immune system. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a highly specialized form of massage that requires light, rhythmical and very precise hand movements, pressures and sequences is to move stagnate fluid back into circulation. Consequently detoxification, reduction of edema, and an overall increased sense of well-being occurs.
Scalp Massage
A scalp massage is a specialized treatment focused on the scalp, face, neck and shoulder designed to relax the mind and reduction in headaches and migraines. A combination of hot towels and cold facial stones. Others offer scalp massages with fingertips and palms as well as using acupressure, which involves applying finger pressure on certain points on the head and face releases the blocked energy, remedying fatigue, and even illness problems.
Motor Vehicle Accident Massage
If you are in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), your Doctor, Chiropractor or Physiotherapist may recommend massage therapy as a part of your treatment plan. Massage therapy can help to stimulate tissue healing, reduce muscle spasms and associated pain and stiffness caused by MVAs.
Child & Infant Massage
Child massage is a therapy to work out the soft tissue. It will help to improve the coordination of a child, prevent many immunity diseases and make a positive impact on overall health. Massage therapy has a positive impact on children of any age – babies, infants, preschoolers or teenagers. Massage therapy is recommended for 1.5 month old and older children. If a child has a good health, massage will help to maintain its balance.
